Challenge

During the expansion of Oslo Airport, nearly 3,000 direct employees and tens of thousands of indirect workers—including cleaning personnel, firefighters, pilots, security staff, hospitality teams, retail employees, and others—faced new challenges throughout the process.

Goal

The primary objective was to ensure a smooth transition to the newly upgraded airport while maintaining high levels of morale and collaboration, even during the most demanding times.

Result

Through a comprehensive omni-media campaign, internal channels of communication saw an increase in traffic estimated to be equivalent of over 80% of the target group. Previous numbers indicated less than 10% of employees of the airport and connected businesses used central channels to get information. During the construction, the airport maintained full operationality and serviced 20m+ passengers with a theoretical capacity of less than half of that. For the record, the success of expanding the airport was a joint effort, and much credit goes to the system designers, event planners and project managers at Avinor as well.
